Back 2 School Backpacks for Foster Youth (2023-2024)

This project will provide a minimum of 100 foster youth living in the Coachella Valley region of Riverside County with a Back 2 School Pack. These critical packs include backpacks, notebooks, pencils, pens, pencil pouches, highlighters, binders, folders, colored pencils, index cards, dividers, and more. By providing these youth with unprecedented access to critical supplies, we ensure they do not get left behind. In addition to the support this provides to vulnerable youth in care, Back 2 School Packs also provide critical support for caseworkers and foster parents. When youth enter the child welfare system, they do so rapidly and without ample time to prepare. As a result, youth, caseworkers, and foster parents are often left scrambling to obtain basic need items to ease their inherently traumatic transition into the system. With these packs on hand, caseworkers and foster parents alike have one less need to worry about as they prepare a vulnerable child for a new home and/or new school.
