St Theresa Catholic School

Roadrunners Shade & Phonics (2024-2025)

St. Theresa Catholic Elementary School is located in Palm Springs and serves just under 200 students from Preschool up to eighth grade. The school is in the Diocese of San Bernardino and is part of the St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Parish.

The school is a close community, founded on the gospel values of Jesus Christ. As such, the students participate in school wide prayer on a daily basis, at various times throughout the school day. Morning prayer is usually outside in a small amphitheater in the middle of campus. The school is in need of a shade structure over the amphitheater to provide a safe and comfortable environment. With the addition of shade, this space can be utilized for various other activities, performances, or even as an extension of the classroom.

In addition to the shade structure, St. Theresa school is making every effort to provide reading intervention to those students for which English is a secondary language, and students who are reading below grade level. The Phonics for Reading program has shown success in other schools. An Interventionist will be on campus weekly to implement the program and work with students in small groups. The acquisition of this reading program will be a useful tool to raise test scores in basic reading and comprehension.
