Listening and Learning (2014-2015)
Listening and Learning is a project that provides counseling for students who need social and emotional support to be successful in school and in life. Many students at Rancho Mirage School come from single-parent homes or live without direct parental guidance. They often face grief, depression, emotional stress, and other profound issues.
A counselor from Jewish Family Services of the Desert will visit campus twice a week to meet with students. The counselor also works with parents and teachers, giving them strategies to help the child at class and at home. Through the Listening and Learning program, students learn to see school as a safe place where they can build their self-esteem and deal with emotional issues. By getting in touch with their emotions, students become equipped to succeed academically and reach their full potential.
