Life Saving Training (2016-2017)
The National Heart2Heart Foundation is dedicated to training high school students to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use Automated Extrenal Defibrillators (AEDs), portable lifesaving devices. H2H, an approved provider for the American Heart Association (AHA), utilizes the AHA innovative online instruction with a customized hands-on skills training session to train 10th-12th graders during their health and physical education classes. This methodology ensures that schools have the resources to implement effective emergency plans and students have the knowledge and confidence to help save a life. H2H works with schools to inform students of career paths in the fields of nursing, emergency services, para-medicine, and firefighting. This guidance helps students develop career goals, encourage leadership and involvement in their communities and schools, and become motivated to succeed.
In the Coachella Valley Unified School District, the H2H program will serve 1,500 students currently enrolled in the district's Health Career Pathway Academies. H2H will work with computer programmers to develop a custom e-mentoring software to assist students enrolled in the CVUSD Academies. This software will provide health mentors and online health-related training materials and videos. Communication between mentors and mentees will be monitored by responsible teachers, ensuring a safe and positive experience for all.
