Creating a Resilience Informed Care Environment (2020-2021)

The value of child-friendly aesthetic additions and functional play areas are vital to creating an environment that is welcoming to what may be a very scared and sick child. Reducing anxiety in these children has a value that goes far beyond the obvious beautification and directly impacts the efficacy of their healthcare. This grant will allow Loma Linda University Children’s Health – Indio Outpatient Pavilion an opportunity to alleviate some of the stress of the situation by giving the patients something interesting and colorful to focus on and take their mind off what might be unfamiliar. The funds will purchase decorative light covers that are engaging and fun to look at with a variety of picture options that range from whimsical clouds to outer space to colorful schools of tropical fish. Two interactive projectors, complete with interactive games will provide touch-less gaming devices to help prevent the spread of infection in our waiting rooms.
