Youth Group Bible Quizzing (2019-2020)
Bible Quizzing is a group-focused ministry. The youth study, travel and compete together at various Bible Quiz events. The competitions are similar to Jeopardy, so the kids really have to be prepared in order to be competitive. They represent the Coachella Valley as they travel to other counties to compete in Bible Quizzes. We serve many kids that come from low socio-economic backgrounds that need a safe place to be a kid in a nurturing environment.
The Las Palmas Youth Group reaches out beyond the church to serve kids regardless of their religious beliefs. Parents do not need to be members of the church in order for their children to participate in Youth Group activities. The Youth group meets weekly to practice/study for Bible Quiz and to serve the community. These extraordinary children go visit/play games with the elderly in nursing homes, volunteer with other non-profit organizations like the Narrow Door during the holidays (providing gifts for the needy), Adopt a Trailer Park (deliver food/clothes to the needy), Sidewalk Sunday School (play games, give food/clothes) to children that have no transportation to a local church and so much more!
These children are our future community based leaders and always go above and beyond just participating in Bible Quizzing activities. There is definitely a community need for youth groups in the Coachella Valley. Children are interacting with positive role models and learning about the importance of looking beyond yourself and being of service to others. The social emotional competence and leadership skills that children learn through the quizzing and community service/outreach is invaluable.
