Desert Art Center of CV

Middle School Art Program (2025-2026,2023-2024, 2021-2022, 2017-2018, 2016-2017, 2015-2016)

The key mission of the Desert Art Center is to provide art education for the students within the Coachella Valley. Specifically, this includes all the Palm Springs Unified School District which encompasses the middle school aged students from the communities of Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Desert Hot Springs, and Thousand Palms. Our Saturday program fills a void that public education struggle to fill with limited opportunities for art instruction through their schools. Per the school district surveys, still more than 85% of their middle school population come from families with income below the US poverty level. Our art instruction program is at no cost to the students and their families and are led by professional artist educators within the DAC community. The program is divided into 3 terms within the regular school calendar: September - October, October - November, and January - February with each module lasting approximately 4 weeks with 3 contact hours per session. We are striving to offer fundamental art instruction that is engaging, fun, builds self-esteem and social skills, and provides the fundamental art skills for students to be able to continue their arts education successfully through high school and beyond. Classes are taught at the Desert Art Center, 550 N. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs. Pre-registration is required.
