Covering our Bases (2018-2019)
Central Valley Little League and the Board of Central Valley Little League serve nearly 300 children ages 4-16 throughout the Coachella Valley. We are centrally located in Cathedral City, but our boundaries extend from Palm Springs to Mecca. Our Spring season begins in the beginning of March and extends into mid June or even into July with local tournament play. The assistance from Anderson Children’s Foundation will fund a project to replace and provide new bases, Regulation Pitching Mound and a Softball Pitching Rubber. This is essential to our program in the development in the growth of our young players. We have grown substantially this 2018 season and we continue to grow almost daily. The need for a program that ensures the safety of the children, grows their minds, keeps them active and developing social skills and mentoring them on a team level by teaching them sportsmanship and teamwork. The Board of Directors are always looking for ways to maintain safety for our athletes and volunteers. We have been effective in keeping our safety standards high and stress the importance to our volunteers to maintain the same level.
Safety and Programming (2017-2018, 2016-2017)
Central Valley Little League, located in Cathedral City, offers a baseball and softball program to children ages 4-15. Little League baseball is the world's largest organized youth sport program, dedicated to developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork, and physical well-being among children who participate. Little League as a whole aims to develop superior citizens instead of superior athletes; the mission of Central Valley Little League is to "promote, develop, supervise, and voluntarily assist in all lawful ways, the interest of those who will participate in Little League Baseball and Softball." The organization is run solely by volunteers; many parents serve as coaches, managers, umpires, and board members. By purchasing safe playing and umpire equipment, CVLL can continue to provide a safe, positive program for the community. As a result, children will gain valuable skills of sportsmanship, fair play and teamwork that they can use later in life to become outstanding citizens.
