Child Development Program (2024-2025)

Braille Institute believes that a person’s visual impairment should never be a barrier to happiness or success. The Coachella Valley Child Development Program is committed to letting kids be kids and helping them grow up to reach their full potential, regardless of their visual impairment. Serving children ages 0-6 years with vision loss throughout Coachella Valley, the program does this by maximizing a child’s development through early intervention, empowering parents to be their child’s advocate, and connecting families to helpful community resources. Early intervention services are designed to provide support during the vital formative years of children at risk for delayed development and/or other negative outcomes. For infants and toddlers with visual impairments, this means focusing on and supporting the aspects of early childhood development impacted by vision loss (e.g., cognition, language, gross and fine motor skills, socialization).
